Upcoming Giveaway

Hey Guys,

So this past Monday I went on the road to run some errands. I was a bit excited to get out of the house yet again, and I really wanted to share my outfit with you guys. The reason behind this sudden impulse is this. The other day, I was picking up a few things for the house when I came across what I consider to be the cutest little bag (Nine West Purse Handbag Tunnel Xbody Minis Black). I fell in love with it almost immediately. Not only because it has several compartments, but through its use, I’d have options. The bag can either be used as a wristlet, clutch, or crossbody bag. Now if you know me, I am always on the lookout for a crossbody bag that can fit my BIG purse. Of course, this one still isn’t it, but I just couldn’t help myself, because this bag was way too cute, lol.
Anyways enough of my rambling and on to the point. There were only two left in the store, and guess what? I BOUGHT THEM BOTH!!

I decided that I would engage you all in a mini competition *smiles*. To become eligible for the giveaway, you have to subscribe to my blog http://www.tianshanae.blogspot.com/, or like my facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/TianShanae/159252284153883?ref=ts). Are you excited as yet? I know I am!

I’m going to work with the number fifty (50) here. So if and when I get 50 “likes” on my TianShanae facebook page, and/or 50 subscriptions to my official blog, I will post a video explaining the rules of the contest. The video will also show the features of the bag to aid in your decision of whether or not you want to enter. Trust me, this is a competition you don’t want to miss out on. I only highlighted the bag, but you’ll never know what’s in store if you don’t enter. I have a lot of stuff I adore, and would want to share with you all. Who knows? Note however, this competition will only be made eligible to those citizens of Jamaica and the United States of America

Why Remi?

Hey guys,

I am back again with a new topic that I hope will bring forth some insight into the world of hair extensions. I’m pretty new to the world of weaves, but along my short journey I have come across bits and pieces of information that I wish to share with you, so here goes. The aim of this post is to answer two frequently asked questions. That is, why Remi/Remy above all other types of human hair? And of course, the most common, why does it cost so much more? In my attempt to answer these questions, I’ll begin by highlighting what I perceive to be differences in Remi, when compared to other brands. Remi best describes hair that is positioned in the same direction as it is cut from the head, meaning all the cuticles of the hair are aligned to face the same direction. There are two types of Remi, virgin and non-virgin. The term “virgin” in relation to extensions, makes reference to the fact that it has not been processed or coloured, whilst “non-virgin” make mention of those that have been coloured or processed. Alternate forms of human hair on the other hand, can be referred to as fallen hair. In other words, the roots and tips of the hair are mixed up, leaving the hair prone to tangling. So why does it cost so much more? Let’s just say you get what you pay for – better quality, greater lifespan, and less headaches.

Studies have indicated that Virgin Indian is, internationally, the primary choice of quality hair and wig manufacturers. Personally, I have not ventured in to the realm of Virgin Indian Remi, but maybe one day I will, who knows? I do however wear Non-Virgin Remi hair for which I paid approximately USD$140 for two packs. Is it worth it? Well let’s do the math. I purchased the hair that I am currently wearing in mid May of this year, I have it shampooed and conditioned every two weeks. I also remove and re-sew the hair every four to six weeks. So I’ve had this hair for a little over three months and it still looks great but don’t take my word for it, judge for yourselves, by viewing the images displayed at the end of this post, and feel free to thank me later when you’ve made your first purchase.

Prior to my venture into the world of Remi, I used to wear regular human hair. This amounted to approximately USD$60 for two packs of hair. However, after about two weeks it would start tangling and I would have to remove it completely. I absolutely HATED the look and feel after washing it for reuse (Please note that this is my opinion, and I mean no offence to anybody viewing this post). Having been faced with this problem, I’d end up spending USD$120 a month. That is, USD$360 for three months because after two weeks I’d just purchase two fresh packs instead of reusing the ones I had removed. Do you see where I’m headed with this? Whenever I wash my Remi hair it looks and feels as though I’ve just taken it out of the packaging, which is something I love.

I’ve tried different brands of Remi before and I must say I am pleased with the product overall. The one I’m currently wearing is Sensational Goddess, a first for me. It gives off the same general effect, and produces the same results. However, there is a downside to this hair which poses a big problem for me. It sheds like crazy!!! There’s hair all over the place but I guess with all things in life you have to give and take. In closing, Remi human hair is of a higher quality when compared to standard quality brands. It helps me to achieve an all natural look through its smoother, shinier, and healthier appearance than that given off by regular human hair, and when washed, it will not mat and tangle. This confirmed through the countless people asking “Is that your real hair?” Lol!

Out of State Weekend

Hey Guys, it’s me again :)

So last Thursday I left sunny Orlando and headed to the much cooler state of Pennsylvania, the Poconos to be exact, to join in the celebration of PJ’s and Amelia’s nuptials. Prior to my trip, PJ had given me a heads up on the “what’s” and “what not’s” to expect on this venture. His exact words were that it was mountainous, and would remind me of what us Jamaicans commonly refer to as “country”. Upon arrival to Allentown, Pennsylvania after a series of flight delays of course, I was intrigued to say the least, by that which I saw. The Poconos did not just remind me of home, I actually felt quite at home, with all the mountains, hills and valleys. That which felt unfamiliar to me however, was the woods. This I was advised was home to many living creatures foreign to me. Within those brushes lurked the likes of mountain lions and bears. Imagine my horror upon hearing such news.

On Friday I visited “The Crossing”, an outlet mall with PJ’s sister, after which we were picked up by the bride to be. This is so that we could assist with last minute wedding errands. After what I consider to be a rather long day, we headed to the rehearsal followed by dinner.

On Saturday I was a bit nervous Not only was it the actual day of the wedding, but my mom was coming to visit and to say she was running late would be putting it mildly. This led to me freaking out, because we (Jason and I), needed to leave the house at two that afternoon, to be on time for the wedding at four. Easing all anxiety, she eventually got there at about midday, and stayed until I was ready to leave out for the wedding. Boy was I happy to see her! I hadn’t seen my mom in about four months and to me she looked so cute with her little pixie hair cut.

WEDDING TIME!!!!!

So here it was, the moment we had all been waiting for. PJ and Amelia’s wedding. It was a splendid event to say the least. Well orchestrated, and this showed in the end product. I was fascinated not only by the choice of colours, but the reception hall in its entirety. To me it gave the reception character in the sense that it gave off an old romantic feel, with the exposed wooden beans in the ceiling.

On Sunday Jason and I headed back to Orlando but our flight out of Newark airport was delayed. Imagine my frustration! I had to be sitting in that airport for roughly three hours before there was any form of movement. By the time we got to the gate for our connecting flight, we were informed that the flight had already closed. Jason literally had the “fan down” the plane like how you’d normally fan down a taxi or bus indicating for it to stop. He eventually caught the attention of the pilots. Soon after, we both, alongside several other passengers, were allowed on board. This I can now look at after the fact and laugh my head off. All in all it was a fun and eventful weekend.

Summer Faves

Hey guys,

Have you ever just found yourself fascinated by let’s just say the smallest of things? Well today, I figure I’d share some of the things I have fallen absolutely in love with for the months of July and August. Think of them as my “summer faves”. I consider myself a very peculiar person when it comes to certain things and am very selective when it comes to my purchases. I must say though, that I have become extremely excited with this just mere thought of using the items I’m about to inform you about. To me, they are just remarkable and I must give a big thumbs up to the manufacturers of these products.

I am not really a fan of the colour pink but lately I find that I have been drawn to this colour, as is evident in the selection of nail polishes and my favourite pair of earrings. Pink for me, is a vibrant colour that demonstrates youth, fun, and of course, excitement.

For those of you that don’t know, I wear hair extensions. I absolutely could not live without my Olive Oil Edge Control. This product works miracles I tell you! It gives me an excellent hold, keeping my edges laid down without drying out or hardening my hair.

The next item on my list is my recent makeup purchases. Lately, I’ve become even more fascinated with makeup items, not that I know much about the stuff, but best believe I can and will learn. Well, I went to Walmart recently, and bought four palettes, two by Physicians Formula amounting to approximately US$10 each, and two branded Cover girl at about US$5 each. OMG!! I fell so much in love with the palettes purchased. They encompass a vast array of colours that are simply amazing. Each gorgeous colour adds to my lustre and appeal when I feel like dressing up and hitting the streets. Whether it be a chic, modest look, or a fierce dominatrix image, dependent on my mood and the outing, I’m covered with this fabulous collection. It brings forth a youthful vibe, my wanting to try the different combos and seeing the end result.

In getting my eye shadows to remain throughout the day, I use Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. The beauty about this product is its crease resistant. I kid you not, this potion is yet to fail me. I am in love with this product as it gives me the assurance that my eyeshadow will remain beautiful all day long as it was upon its first application. All in all, I experience absolutely no creasing with this product. If I didn’t know better, I’d say it were magic!

At the end of the day when I’m feeling lazy and extremely tired, in an effort to get all the applied makeup off my face, I use Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes. I must say that I am impressed. These towelettes effortlessly removes everything including eye make-up. Whether it be waterproof or smudgeproof, I think they have finally come up with a solution for them all.

Now that I've clued you in on my favourite items for the summer, I hope you enjoy using each product as much as I do.  Feel free to leave a comment and share with me, the products you deem most intriguing, and a must-have.  Thx for reading!

New Camera

Hey Guys,

So I got a new camera last Friday (tax free weekend) and I LOVE it! I went to Best Buy and I bought the Canon PowerShot Elph 300HS (in red) for $229 <Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS 12 MP CMOS Digital Camera with Full 1080p HD Video (Red)>. The video and picture quality is amazing! I also picked up a Canon Pixma MG5220 wireless color ink jet printer for $99 <Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One (4502B017)>.

Here are the technical details on the camera:
  • World's thinnest digital camera with a 24mm ultra Wide-Angle lens and 5x Optical Zoom and Optical Image Stabilizer.
  • Canon's HS SYSTEM with a 12.1 MP CMOS and DIGIC 4 Image Processor improves shooting in low-light situations without the need for a flash
  • Full 1080p HD Video for exceptional quality with stereo sound, plus a dedicated movie button for easy access.
  • Get high-speed shooting in a point-and-shoot camera: High-speed Burst Mode captures 8.0fps and
  • Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper settings for the camera based on 32 predefined shooting situations.
  • 12.1 effective megapixels, 1/2.3-inch high-sensitivity CMOS; 5x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom
  • 2.7 in. TFT color LCD display with wide angle viewing; Built-in flash; Full 1080p HD video with stereo sound
  • And lowers noise levels at higher ISO settings.
  • Optical Image Stabilizer; DIGIC 4 Image Processor; High-speed Burst Mode
  • Smart AUTO (32 scenes); Movie Digest Mode; Toy Camera Effect; Monochrome; Face Detection; Red-eye Correction
  • Super Slow Motion Movie records video at high speeds to allow slow motion playback.
  • USB 2.0 Hi-Speed; HDMI; SD card slot (card not included)
  • Zoom optically while shooting video and keep footage stabilized with Dynamic IS.
However as great as it is, it still has one great flaw. It cant take close-up macro pics in the dark, which I must say is rather disappointing. This is because the flash generated by the sensor is too close to the optical lens and it casts a shadow (lower right corner) that’s seen in the picture.
